About Discovery Coast Tourism & Commerce

"Striving to continuously promote and develop Tourism and Economic activities within the region known as the Discovery Coast, whilst providing advocacy on community Environmental, Social and Governance concerns."

Discovery Coast Tourism & Commerce Inc (DCTC) is dedicated to the growth and expansion of the tourism industry and economic development for Agnes Water, Seventeen Seventy, Captain Creek, Baffle Creek and the surrounding local areas. 

The organisation believes that by promoting the Discovery Coast as a must-see destination, the community and all businesses in the area will prosper through sustainable social, environmental and economic development.

DCTC is a non-profit, membership-based organisation that has been successfully operating since 2000.

DCTC’s executive committee members volunteer their time to lead the many projects run and supported by the organisation. They are supported by hundreds of other volunteers and local contractors supporting local Advocacy, local Promotion and local Events.

Deb Davie is a dynamic entrepreneur and seasoned professional with a rich and diverse background spanning tourism, finance, and community projects. As the owner of Abracadabra Camping with her partner Mark, Deb brings her love for adventure, travel, and the outdoors into her business, creating unique and accessible camping experiences for all. Having lived in some of Queensland’s most beautiful and remote locations, including Cairns, Port Douglas, Cooktown, and the Daintree, Deb now lives in the region after sailing from Cooktown to 1770, where she fell in love with the coastal charm of the area. Professionally, Deb's career has been marked by innovation and impact. She is one of the founders of Enova Energy, Australia’s first community-owned electricity retailer, a project that secured a $5 million community investment and set new benchmarks for renewable energy initiatives. With extensive experience in project management, accounting, and stakeholder engagement, Deb has successfully led teams, managed complex projects, and implemented efficient systems in both private and public sectors. Deb’s passion for inclusivity and community shines through her initiatives, such as creating accessible camping options and fostering sustainable tourism. She combines her professional expertise with a personal dedication to making meaningful connections and delivering exceptional experiences. When she’s not working, Deb enjoys spending time with her partner cooking, exploring new destinations, and soaking in the tranquility of nature. She is committed to living and sharing a life full of adventure, creativity, and purpose.

Shirley Hitschmann

Secretary
Shirley Hitschmann is the owner of H&M Productions, a professional photography and videography business based in Agnes Water. With over a decade of experience in IT, ICT, and project management, Shirley discovered her passion for photography while working with grassroots wildlife conservation and community projects across Australia, Africa, and Asia, inspired by a desire to capture each moment.In 2015, Shirley turned her love for photography and projects into a business during a four-year stint in Zimbabwe. Now settled in Agnes Water since Jan 2015 with her husband Philip and 9-yr old son, Shirley is dedicated to empowering businesses and local communities through creative photography, videography, and marketing solutions that drive real results. She also gives back by actively supporting other local community groups, including the Agnes Water State School P&C, DCEG, ACC, and local sports groups.

Sally Michelmore

Treasurer
Sally Michelmore serves as the Assistant Manager and Director of the Agnes Water Tavern. She has been a proud resident of Agnes Water for eight years, where she lives with her husband and three children. Prior to moving to Agnes Water, Sally completed a Bachelor of Accounting and a Bachelor of Business. She also has experience in banking and financial planning, which she draws on in her role at the Tavern. Sally enjoys exploring the surroundings and loves spending her free time boating, fishing, and enjoying family time
